INDUS VALLEY CIVILIZATION (2700 BC - 1900 BC)
SINCE the civilization flourished on the banks of river Indus. The people who started this civilization lived near the Indus river. that's why the civilization is named on the name of the river and known as the Indus valley civilization. There are a lot of questions related to the origination of this civilization but there are lots of theories and opinions related to its origin which states that people are not clear and exact about its origin. But there are some shreds of evidence or proofs that support the origin of this civilization where we have to mention an important time scale known as the Neolithic time scale.
So, as we all know, there are many time scales in which history is divided, which is related to the Geological time scales (eons, eras, periods, epochs, and ages). And after this, there are three-time scales
- Paleolithic time scale - which talks about (500000 BC - 10000 BC)
- Mesolithic time scale - which represents (9000 BC - 4000 BC)
- Neolithic time scale - which is surrounded by (5000 BC - 1800 BC)
So, the Indus valley civilization is of Neolithic time scale (2700 BC - 1900 BC ).
There are three names proposed for this civilization:- Harappan civilization, Indus valley civilization, and Saraswati civilization.
Some facts state that the Indus valley civilization is the oldest civilization in the world among the other civilization like Egypt, China, Mesopotamia(In present Iraq, Kuwait, Syria), etc. But these civilizations are of very nearly time scale.
Now, the Geographical spread of this civilization is measured to be 1200000 km2 including India, Afganistan, Pakistan.
